A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words

I thought that I would try a different approach to this blog post. I will use more photographs to speak rather than my words. I thought it might be fun to try since as the saying goes "a picture is worth a thousand words". I will include a few quotes to get my photographic juices flowing. So here is the first quote and some images to go along with it.

“God spoke today in flowers, and I, who was waiting on words, almost missed the conversation.” (Ingrid Goff-Maidoff)

Each of the flower images I include here spoke to me directly. I looked closer, I re-inspected (gave re-spect). Some of the images I captured I felt compelled to have a further conversation to tell of their beauty to the world. I have learned to do this with the photo editing software that allowed me tell of their story to myself and others.

I hope that my images of these flowers spoke to you and when you come pass by a beautiful flower don't forget to stop and "listen" to the conversation they want to have with you!

"By means of all created things, without exception, the divine assails us, penetrates us and moulds us." Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

This quote by French Jesuit paleontologist and philosopher in his opening passage of The Divine Milieu, really jumped off the page for me when I read it recently. Here are some images I have captured over the years where I felt "assailed, penetrated and moulded" by the all created things in nature I have experienced.

These last two images of Mt Rainier were from an recent hike to Grand Park. There is nothing like the meadows of Mt Rainier and I try to get there every summer. I hope you also get out this summer and join in the conversation with Nature!

Nature Meditation of the Month

I love listening to the sound of the tide coming and out especially if the tide is very gentle. This nature meditation captures the sounds of the minus low tide at Meadowdale Beach in June this year.

How good it is to center down!  To sit quietly and see one’s self pass by! The streets of our minds seethe with endless traffic. Our spirits resound with clashings, with noisy silences, while something deep within hungers and thirsts for the still moment and the resting lull.… Howard Thurman
